academy of art The Academy of Art at the Newington Cropsey Foundation was founded in 1991. The Academy undertakes the training in drawing and sculpture of gifted students whose artistic style is consistent with the Hudson River School and provides studio space for developing their skills. The students are encouraged to make use of the Foundations unique facilities in order to study and develop their artistic skills, while striving to instill a sense of traditional values and classical training in the arts. The Academy of Arts building is located on the grounds of the Newington Cropsey Foundation. The building contains a large studio, several offices, and a student research library

garden of great
ideas The Garden of Great Ideas is a program to create a sculpture garden on the grounds of the Foundation and extending to the campuses of collegiate institutions nationally. Some sculptures, created by the students, have been placed on the Vanderbilt University grounds in Tennessee and the campus of Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The Garden is a concept that provides students a means for self-education through research. |

| Students choose an idea from a list of 50 designated concepts considered to have made positive impacts on humankind’s development. The creative process involves seminars, readings, and design experiments in order to create a visual representation of these ideas.
