Birds in Art 2012

Exhibition: March 11 - May 3, Monday-Friday 1pm till 5pm, no appointment necessary

We once again thank the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum of Wausau, WI for loaning their annual Birds in Art exhibition to the Foundation. This is the fifth installment that we have exhibited and we are very grateful for the opportunity to share the wonderful exhibition with our guests.

Birds in Art, the annual exhibition, began in 1976 and now in its 37th year it has grown into a major international juried show. This year's traveling exhibition features 60 works by artists of all countries. 600 artists submitted entries to the current show with 125 selected by the jury for the main exhibition in Wisconsin. The requirements for submission are simple: avian art with the mediums of paintings, graphics, or sculpture may be submitted with the stipulation that they are current work (completed in the prior 2 years).

Birds – embodying the essence of flight – carry innate inspirational appeal. They soar aloft, gaining perspective from their everyday bird’s-eye view of the world that earthbound humans can only imagine. When talented and creative artists focus on the varied splendor of birds, the resulting depictions astound and delight. With artists from around the globe striving to be among those chosen for this internationally renowned exhibition, the 37th annual “Birds in Art” exhibition soars yet again.
